Research Microtools

Stem Cell microtools are used to transfer embryonic stem cells into blastocysts. They come in five sizes: 15-17μm I.D., 17-19m I.D., 19-21μm I.D., 22-24m I.D., and 24-26m I.D. The smaller sizes are typically used for stem cells of human origin while the larger stem cell micropipets are used for stem cells of mouse origin. Both have a bevel with a short, sharp spike. Other diameters are available by ordering a customized Stem Cell micropipet and specifying the desired diameter size.

Stem Cell micropipets may be ordered straight or with an angle. Angle choices are 15, 20 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45. Standard Stem Cell micropipets are bent 0.5mm from the tip of the pipet, however, you may order a customized Stem Cell micropipet angled 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.0mm from the tip.

Piezo drill micropipets are made to fit the piezo-based micromanipulator. They are often used for ICSI in mice or for the creation of transgenic animals. These are made with a blunt opening and come with any inner diameter between 5m and 20m (I.D.).

They are bent 6mm from the tip and may be ordered straight or with a 15 or 25 angle. When ordering, please specify sterile or non-sterile. Other angles are available by ordering a customized Piezo drill micropipet and including your specifications.

Pasteur Pipets

Specifically Prepared for the IVF Lab

  • 5.75″ (14.6cm) and 9″ (22.9cm) standard sizes
  • Sterilized by dry heat
  • Available without or with cotton plug
  • Mouse embryo and LAL tested
  • Extensively cleaned and baked to remove endotoxins
  • Compact packaging allowing removal of one pouch at a time
  • Made from Borosilicate glass
  • Pipets are sold in boxes of 90 (30 pouches of 3 each) and cases of 1,000 (20 trays of 50 each).

Improved Package

Our Pasteur Pipet boxes are smaller than those previously used, are very sturdy and more compact to take up less space in the IVF lab.

Another feature is the perforated opening on each box that allows you to pull a pouch out easily while leaving the remainder of the pipets protected.

Improved Packaging for 5.75 and 9  Pasteur Pipets.

These new boxes are smaller than those previously used (see box in background), are very sturdy and more compact to take up less space in lab environments. Each box still holds the same number of pouched Pasteur pipets – 90 per box – and will result in significant cost savings on shipping.

No need to open a box each time you need a pipet!

Another feature is the perforated opening on each box that allows you to pull a pouch out easily while leaving the remainder of the pipets protected from dirt and contaminants.

Denuding Micropipets

Denuding micropipets are used to remove the cumulus cells from the oocyte.

These micropipets are made from 1.5mm O.D. glass, have a blunt opening and are sold straight. They are available in a variety of sizes: 120m, 130m, 135m, 140m, 150m, 160m, 170m, 175m, 190m, and 250m I.D.  Other options are available by ordering a customized denuding micropipet.

PZD Micropipets

PZD (Partial Zona Dissection) micropipets are used in blastomere biopsy and mechanical hatching techniques by physically piercing the zona pellucida.

Humagen PZD micropipets are pulled with a long thin taper to a sharp point.

PZD micropipets may be ordered straight or with an angle. Angle choices are 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45.

Standard PZD micropipets are angled 0.5mm from the tip. However, you may order a customized PZD micropipet angled 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.0mm back from the tip.

Biopsy Micropipets

PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) micropipets are used to perform biopsies on the embryo (blastocyst) or the oocyte (polar body).

Standard Blastomere Biopsy micropipets for PGD come with a number of options. They are offered in 3 diameters: 28-32μm, 33-37μm and 38-42μm I.D. They may be ordered flat and polished, or beveled and polished. You may specify a different diameter by ordering a customized Blastomere Biopsy micropipet.

Polar Body Biopsy micropipets are made with a 13-15μm I.D opening and are offered flat and polished, beveled and polished or beveled with a spike. Other diameters are available by ordering customized biopsy micropipets and specifying the desired diameter.

Biopsy micropipets may be ordered straight or with an angle. Angle choices are 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45.

Holding Micropipets

Holding micropipets are microtools used to hold and immobilize the oocyte or blastocyst.

Standard Humagen Holding micropipets have a blunt, polished opening. They may be ordered in 4 different sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. Small and medium holding micropipets have an I.D. of 15-20μm, while large and extra large holding micropipets have an I.D. of 25-30μm. If you prefer a different I.D. (mouth) or O.D., you may order a customized Holding micropipet with your specifications.

Holding pipets may be ordered straight or with an angle. Angle choices for small and medium Holding micropipets are 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45. Angle options for Large and Extra Large Holding micropipets are 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35.

Standard Holding micropipets are angled 0.5mm from the polished end. However, you may order a customized Holding micropipet angled 1mm back from the polished end.

Customized Holding micropipets may also be ordered to specify an exact size (O.D.) rather than the indicated ranges.

Assisted Hatching Micropipets

Assisted Hatching (Chemical) micropipets are used to create a hole in the zona pellucida using acid Tyrode’s solution. These micropipets are made with a blunt opening, slightly polished, and are offered in two sizes: a small that is 8-10μm I.D. and a large that is
10-12μm I.D. Other diameters may be ordered as customized Assisted Hatching micropipets by specifying the desired size of the opening.

Assisted Hatching micropipets may be ordered straight or with an angle. Angle choices are 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45.

Standard Hatching micropipets are angled 0.5mm from the tip. However, you may order a customized Hatching micropipet angled 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.0mm back from the polished end.

ICSI Micropipets

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) micropipets are used to aspirate and inject the sperm cell directly into the oocyte.

Standard Humagen ICSI micropipets are made in three bevel lengths:

  • 50 (8-10μm)

  • SI (10-11μm)

  • 35 (11-12μm)

Each has a sharp spike. An SI bevel with no spike is available upon request.

The standard opening is 5-6μm I.D. However, we offer a 4μm I.D., 6μm O.D. ICSI micropipet.

ICSI pipets may be ordered straight or with an angle. Angle choices are 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45. Standard ICSI pipets are bent 0.5mm from the tip. However, you may order a customized ICSI angled 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.0mm from the tip.

Larger ICSI micropipets are used for aspiration and injecting immature sperm. These micropipets have a sharp spike and come in two sizes: 7-8μm I.D. and 8-9μm I.D. They are sold straight or with the same angle choices as regular ICSI micropipets. The 8-9μm size is a standard Spermatid micropipet.
